Louisville Cardinals 2014 BCS Odds

The Louisville Cardinals finished atop the Big East standings last year with a 10-2 record and 5-2 league mark. Charlie Strong’s troops capped off the stellar season with a major bowl upset as they defeated No. 4 Florida 33-23 in the Sugar Bowl, despite being lined as a 14 point dog. Louisville is expected to make even more noise this season with 16 starters, including Heisman Trophy candidate Teddy Bridgewater, and 53 lettermen returning to the team. The Cardinals are drawing a +2300 moneyline ($100 wins $2300) in the latest 2014 BCS Odds from 5 Dimes, which makes them one of the favorites to win the National Championship. Louisville is the favorite to win the new American Athletic Conference at -160 odds and it is favored, at -185 odds, to win Over 10.5 games.

Louisville’s biggest issue this season could be its soft schedule. While there are some quality teams in the AAC (i.e. Central Florida, Cincinnati), few are good enough right now to garner more than a cursory glance from the national pundits. In other words, the perception of the conference as a whole could hurt the Cardinals come bowl season.

The odds makers at the Golden Nugget certainly expect Louisville to steamroll its conference brethren. The legendary book has lined eight of the Cardinals 2013 conference games in its College Football Games of the Year; Louisville is favored by an average of 13.1 points per game in those eight contests.
