General A Rod 2014 Kentucky Derby Odds

General A Rod is being tabbed as one of the potential contenders in the 2014 Kentucky Derby. The current odds for General A Rod make the horse one of the 2014 Kentucky Derby Contenders on this day before the race. The Kentucky Derby will begin at 6:24pm EST Saturday from Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

Current Odds: 28-to-1
Morning Line: 15-to-1

General A Rod will begin the Kentucky Derby from the No. 8 post on Saturday evening. It's not being tabbed as the horse to beat in this race, but General A Rod is drawing some pretty solid odds. A total of 20 horses make the gate for the world's most famous horse race. General A Rod is drawing a lot of attention heading into this race. It opened as one of the horses that was considered to be a longshot, but now is settling in as a potential horse to back.

Joel Rosario will be atop General A Rod in this race. Rosario is one of the best jockey's in the world and picked up victories in the Dubai World Cup and Kentucky Derby from 2013.

General A Rod placed third in the Florida Derby, which was the only time he finished worst than second place in a race. Experts have likened General A Rod to many other horses in this race when it comes to running ability. The 1 1/4 mile length could prove to be a problem for many horses in the race, but a horse like this, which has had success, might be a pretty solid option in drawing 15-1 odds in a 20-horse race.
