Florida Atlantic Owls vs Rice Owls Start Time, Odds

CFB on Saturday night and we will see the Florida Atlantic Owls visit the Rice Owls. The start time is 7:00 pm (Eastern) and the game will be televised locally. Current Odds have Rice listed as 13.5 point favorites, while the total sits at 52.5.

Analysis: Florida Atlantic joined the Conference USA this year, but their season hasn't gotten off to the best of starts as they are 1-3 overall and 0-2 with in the conference. Poor offense has really hindered this team so far this year as they are 113th in total offense and 103rd in passing, while putting up just 20.5 ppg, which is 96th in the nation. Jaquez Johnson has been the primary quarterback for the Owls and last week he completed 31-of-50 pass attempts for 321 yards and three touchdowns. However, he was again a victim of poor protection, as he was sacked four times. Johnson also added to his interception total with a pair of picks and now has 4 on the year. The Defense hasn't been that great for the Owls either as they rank 70th in total defense, 113th in rushing defense and they average 29.2 ppg, which is 84th in the nation. Adarius Glanton is the leader with team-highs in tackles (35) and tackles for loss (1.5).

The Rice Owls are 1-2 on the year, with losses at Texas A&M and vs Houston at reliant Stadium, while their lone win was vs Big 12 opponent Kansas. The Rice owls have to be licking their chops in this one, as their power running game comes in averaging 224 ypg and will be taking on one of the worst run defenses in the nation. Running back Charles Ross is largely responsible for the large yardage totals. Ross has rushed for 319 yards and four touchdowns on 55 carries this season and has had more than 100 yards in two games. Ross is list as questionable, but they still have Derek Dilllard, who is a solid 2nd option. Defensively the Rice Owls are not that good, ranking 81st overall, 90th vs the pass and 95th in points allowed (32.3 ppg).

Pick: Going to look at the over in this one. The FAU offense should finally get going this week vs a struggling Rice defense, while the Owls should run roughshod over a very weak FAU run defense. Both teams should score in the high twenties in this one at least.
