Denver Broncos 2015 Super Bowl Odds

The Denver Broncos had their super year come crashing down when they were crushed by Seattle Seahawks. This year they lost some key pieces, but are still one of the favorites to with the 2015 Super Bowl. Vegas odds currently have the Denver Broncos at -300 to win the AFC West and +600 to win the 2015 Super Bowl. Let’s take a quick look at the Denver Broncos, along with their 2014 Schedule.

Last year the Bronco offense was amazing, leading the league in scoring, at 37.9 ppg, while also ranking 1st in total yards (457.3 ypg), 1st in passing (340.3 ypg) and 15th in rushing (117.1 ypg). This was the best offense the NFL had ever seen and while they will be good again, it will be hard for them to top last year’s numbers. For the first time in NF history a team had 4 players (Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas, Eric Decker and Wes Welker) with at least 10 TD catches on the year and just one of those players (Eric Decker) is gone from this team. The passing game will still click but let’s also remember that Manning and Welker are not getting any younger. The running game was very average, but Knowshon Moreno is gone, leaving a void in that spot on the roster. Montee Ball will be able to put up solid numbers, but Manning will miss Moreno’s pass protecting skills. The OL is still a strength of this team and has added depth with the drafting of OT Michael Schofield and C Matt Paradis. This will still be a very effective offense this year, but hard to imagine them bettering last year’s numbers.

Defensively, the Broncos ranked 22nd in points allowed (24.9 ppg), 19th in yards allowed (356.0 ypg), 27th vs the pass (254.4 ypg) and 7th vs the run (101.6 ypg). This team had their issues on defense last year, especially vs the pass, but that number is a bit misleading, as team had to pass a lot in their games to play catchup. Still the Broncos used their first pick in the draft to select CB Bradley Roby and then went out and signed Aqib Talib from New England and TJ ward from Cleveland. Even with the loss of Champ Bailey this will be a very good secondary. The Broncos also signed Demarcus Ware away from the Cowboys and as long as he says healthy he will greatly aid the pass rush for Denver. Overall I would say that this defense has been upgraded and should have a better year than last year.

The Denver Broncos may not post 13 wins again this year, but they are still a force in the AFC and should at the very least make it back to the AFC Title game.  The offense will still be very potent, while the defense has made big strides in upgrading over the off season. Offensively and defensively, this is the most complete team in the AFC. The Schedule is brutal, especially with road games vs Seattle, New England, Kansas City, San Diego and Cincinnati, plus a home games vs San Francisco, Indianapolis, San Diego and Kansas City. Very tough to see 13 wins again, but 12 is not out of the question and that I do expect, which would put them over them posted win total of 11.5.
