Creative Cause, which finished fifth at the annual Run for the Roses in the Kentucky Derby, currently has 6 to 1 odds to win the 2012 Preakness Stakes. The horse has raced a lot in its career, nine races in all. The horse has cashed in eight of the nine career races. Creative Cause has a lifetime mark of 4 wins, 2 places and 2 shows and will open up the Preakness in the sixth post in the race. The gross earnings for the 3-year-old Colt currently sits at $929,000. The horse has decent odds and is considered a Preakness Contender behind the obvious two choices.

Creative Cause will be racing outside of California for only the second time in nine career starts, so there might be some uncomfortable actions there. The noticeable gray horse and son of Giant’s Causeway finished worse than third for the first time in this year's Kentucky Derby. However, he only lost by a little over three lengths, so it's not like he was blown away by those that finished in front of him. The horse won three of five starts last year when he was two years old.

The horse probably has the best overall track record to date with the horses he's competed in so far. Probably the best win was last year's Grade 1 Norfolk event. He was right there with Kentucky Derby winner I'll Have Another back on April 7 in the Santa Anita Derby, which saw Creative Cause finish second.

Preakness Facts: Opening day at Pimlico Race Course in 1870 featured the Dinner Party Stakes that was won by a horse named Preakness. In the racetrack's spring meet of 1873, the 3-year-old stakes race was named after him and the rest is history. The first official Preakness was won by Survivor with a 10 length cushion between him and second place. This record win was not topped until 2004 when Smarty Jones took home the title by an amazing 11 lengths.
