College Football Washington Huskies at California Golden Bears Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Pac-12 Football: 10 Players to Watch in Spring Practice

The Washington Huskies hit the road in college football action on Saturday when they take on the California Golden Bears. The game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Pac-12 Network. Currently the odds for the game have the Golden Bears favored at home in this one.

Good matchup here between a pair of 4-1 teams. California has erupted offensively the past three weeks, scoring 45 points against Arizona in a loss, 59 two weeks ago in a double overtime win over Colorado and a 60-59 thriller over Washington State last week. The Washington defense should be able to slow down the Golden Bear attack, which is averaging 50 points per game so far this year.

The defense, however, has been atrocious. Cal  could be 2-3 on the season with three straight losses, but they've been able to take advantage when they can and find a way to win the last two weeks despite giving up an average of better than 40 points per game this season.

This will be homecoming for California, so some added pleasantries could play a factor in this one. The Huskies are coming in off a bye last week and head to Oregon next week, so there is the potential for a look-ahead opportunity here.

Washington has won five straight in this series, but will need to continue to get solid overall play from their quarterback Cyler Miles. He's thrown for over 600 yards and six scores this season compared to no picks. The Huskies were able to put a scare into Stanford in their last game, but couldn't pull off the upset at home. That's certainly another thing worth watching in this one — Washington's first game, a 17-16 win over Hawaii, was their only road game of the season to date. Three of the next four come on the road as well, so we will get a chance to see just how good these Huskies are this season.

Cal will look for a big game from Jared Goff, who has already thrown for better than 1,800 yards and 22 touchdowns on the season. His main target has been Bryce Taggs, who has caught 22 passes and five touchdowns. The Golden Bears love to spread it around and get it to their playmakers on the outside, but can also pound it between the tackles and get solid play from their tailbacks.

California's defense doesn't make this one easy. The Bears seem to be able to score at will this season and that shouldn't stop in this one. Washington will keep it close, but Cal finds a way, at home, to get the job done.

Free Pick: California 44, Washington 37
