Temple won 10 games this season and is looking to post another in this successful season. They’re taking on a Wake Forest team that is currently in shambles mentally as one of their former assistant coaches turned radio analyst was giving away secrets (allegedly) to every team they play.
The Owls are going to be without their leader in coach?Matt Rhule, who took the job at Baylor. The new guy in charge will be Geoff Collins, though he won’t be coaching the Owls in this one. If Temple is interested and willing to put forth an effort, they will win this game. But with Rhule leaving and him taking members of his staff with him to Baylor, preparation could be a concern. The team is also playing its bowl game in the same stadium where it played, and won, the AAC Championship game over Navy. Hard to get up for a post season game in a place you’re already played against a team like Wake Forest.
But there is something to be said for Temple winning seven straight. Jahad Thomas and Ryquell Armstead give them a pair of solid options coming out of the backfield that both have piled up exactly 918 yards on the ground this season. Thomas has been the workhorse with 200 carries, Armstead has piled up that yardage in 51 fewer carries, making him more of a big-play threat. Between the two they scored 27 touchdowns on the ground.
Wake Forest is not a good football team in terms of numbers. Offensively they don’t do anything great and they lost three consecutive games down the stretch. While it’s a good story they have reached a bowl game, if Temple is ready to go the Owls are going to win.
