No. 14 Oregon State, one the bigger surprises of the still young college football season, will host Pac-12 rival Washington State tonight at Reser Stadium in Corvallis (6:00pm ET start time, Pac-12 Network). College Football Saturday odds anticipate the Beavers improving to 4-0 as they are a -15 against the spread home favorite in this evening’s showdown with the Cougars. The Over/Under in this conference clash is set at 58.5 points.

Considering Washington State has tallied nine wins over the last four seasons, the Mike Leach era at the school is off to a stupendous 2-3 start. However, the Cougars do come into this evening’s contest having lost their last two games both of which were league skirmishes.

Washington State was expected to fall last weekend when it hosted No. 2 Oregon, and it succeeded in fulfilling the most rudimentary of prognostications by losing 51-26 to the Ducks. The Cougars are, perhaps, still kicking themselves for their late collapse against the hapless Colorado Buffaloes on September 22nd, though.

Washington State owned a 31-14 fourth quarter lead on the Buffs, but it yielded three touchdowns in the final frame to earn a 34-35 home loss.

Leach and his staff will, in all probability, not have to worry about such a monumental letdown tonight. A cursory look at this match up indicates the Cougars will be chasing the Beavers (yes, there is a dirty joke somewhere in there) from the jump.

Oregon State, despite three close games, looks like the real deal after beating Wisconsin at home and UCLA and Arizona on the road. The Beavers have one of the nation’s more efficient quarterbacks in sophomore Sean Mannion (362.7 yards per game, 64.6 completion percentage, six touchdowns, one interception) and they also field a top 10 rush defense (83 rush yards per game allowed).

Oregon State has won six of the last eight in this series and it has covered the number in eight of the last 10. The Beavers are 3-1 in their last four at Corvallis against the Cougars, but they are seeking revenge for a stunning November 2010 setback delivered by Washington State at Reser Stadium. The Cougars won that game 31-14 as a 24 point road underdog.

Washington State vs Oregon State College Football Odds:

Washington State Cougars +15 (-110), Over 58.5 (-110), +500 (Moneyline)

Oregon State Beavers -15 (-110), Under 58.5 (-110), -640 (Moneyline)
