The Missouri Tigers will take aim at their first SEC conference win this evening when they host the Vanderbilt Commodores at Faurot Field in Columbia (7:00pm ET start time, ESPN3). College Football Saturday odds have the Tigers lined as a -7 against the spread home favorite; the game total is set at 44.5 points. Missouri first season as a member of the SEC has been a bumpy thus far. The Tigers do sports a winning record at 3-2, but their two losses came against division foes South Carolina and Georgia.
Missouri fell 41-20 at home to the Bulldogs on September 8th and it lost 31-10 at South Carolina on September 22nd. The good news for Tigers’ fans is that Mizzou bounced back from both of those losses with wins over quality teams.
Missouri knocked off Arizona State 24-20 in Columbia after getting clipped by Georgia and it won 21-16 on the road against a tough Central Florida team last weekend.
Vanderbilt would seemingly present Mizzou an opportunity to record its first back to back wins of the season as it enters tonight’s contest with a 1-3 record. The Commodores, like the Tigers, lost to South Carolina and Georgia and they also dropped one on the road against an undefeated Northwestern squad.
Vandy has not responded well in recent seasons playing as an underdog coming off a bye, which is the role it finds itself in this evening. The Commodores are 1-3 both straight up and against the spread over the last five years in this situation.
