The Michigan Wolverines are hosting the UNLV Rebels in college football action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Wolverines favored by a comfortable margin to run away with this one.
Michigan won their inaugural Jim Harbaugh home matchup with Oregon State last weekend, 35-7. The Beavers scored first in that one and then got dominated the remaining three-plus quarters. Michigan’s defense held Oregon State under 140 yards of total offense in that game, averaging less than 2.7 yards per play. Michigan turned it over twice in that game, which was certainly a problem for them last year and Harbaugh has said his team is looking to improve in that category.
Transfer quarterback Jake Rudock has to stop throwing interceptions. He had just five picks last year at Iowa but in two games for Michigan already has four — three coming at Utah in the opener. If he can be consistent and stop turning it over, Michigan will be better.
This is the first meeting between the two schools, UNLV is having a pretty awful season already through two games. The Rebels had quarterback Blake Decker go down last week against UCLA with a hamstring problem, but he is expected to play this week. Michigan’s defense has been solid through two games and will assuredly come after and make Decker’s day problematic. UNLV had no real offensive threat in the recent loss to UCLA, but they were OK against Northern Illinois in the opener.
Michigan will move the football in this one, UNLV surrendered 545 yards to Northern Illinois and 526 to the Bruins last week. The Wolverines will establish the run, bust off big chunks of yards and work on being efficient. This one has blowout written all over it.
