College Football Saturday Oklahoma Sooners vs Tulsa Golden Hurricane Free Pick

Saturday afternoon college football and we will see the Oklahoma Sooners take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at the H.A. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The game has a start time of 12:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN 2. Current Vegas odds have the Sooners listed as 24 point favorites, while the total is set at 57.5.

Analysis: The Oklahoma Sooners had a very nice 11-2 year a season ago, which ended with a 45-31 Sugar Bowl win over Alabama. Now the Sooners are looking to build off of their late season momentum and take the next step, which is an invitation to play in the inaugural NCAA Playoff System. The Sooners started their year on a solid note with a 48-16 win over Louisiana Tech, in a game that they outgained the Bulldogs by 191 yards. Trevor Knight finished 19-of-34 with one interception for Oklahoma (1-0), with freshman Samaje Perine putting up 77 yards rushing yards and a touchdown. The Sooners improved to 6-0 in August under Stoops, who now has 200 games under his belt, and have outscored the opposition by a 253-48 margin in those games.

In 2012 the Tulsa Golden Hurricane went 11-3 on the year, won the Conf USA Title and had a Liberty Bowl win. Last year it all came crashing down as they went just 3-9 during their final year of Conference USA play. They started back on the right track with a 38-31 OT win over Tulane. The Golden hurricane trailed for much of the game, but a late rally allowed them to tie that game and then win it in OT. The game was filled with offense as the Golden Hurricane put up 592 yards, while the Green wave had 515 yards of total offense in the game. The offense looks to be like old for Tulsa, but after allowing 34 ppg and 430 ypg last year, they still have plenty of work to do on that side of the ball. These teams have met 4 times since 2007 and Tulsa is 0-4 SU & ATS and have been outscored by 37.5 ppg in those games.

Pick:  I will go with the Over in this one. Both teams play at an uptempo pace and that should mean plenty of scoring chances for both teams. The Sooners put up 48 points on Louisiana Tech last week and should have similar success vs a Tulsa defense that allowed 33.9 ppg last year and started out this year by allowing a rather pedestrian Tulane squad 515 yards of total offense. Thwe Tulsa offense looked good last week and while this will be a much tougher defense that they will face, they should be able to put up 17+ points in this one. Oklahoma has scored 45, 47 and 51 points in the last 3 meetings and I expect at least 45 from them here, while the Golden Hurricane should hit the 17 point mark. I look for at least 62 points in this one.
