The Wisconsin Badgers are looking to rebound from an opening week loss to Alabama when they host the Miami (OH) Redhawks in college football Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPNu. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Badgers listed as a big favorite to pick up the win.
Wisconsin played Alabama on a neutral field last week and got stomped by the Crimson Tide rushing attack. Alabama pounded the rock for 238 yards and four touchdowns against Wisconsin, but also got great quarterback play and 264 yards through the air. The Badgers are banged up coming off that game, but will have safety Michael Caputo back on the field in this one.
This is the first meeting between the schools and Wisconsin, at home, will stick to the ground game and look to punish Miami. Wisconsin has won 19 straight home openers, beating their opponents by an average of three touchdowns in those games. They’ve also not lost to a non-conference opponent at Camp Randall in 32 consecutive games, winning those by almost four touchdowns on average.
The RedHawks are just 1-11 their last 12 road openers and have dropped their last seven instances by an average of 28 points per game. The RedHawks are going to get a bunch of Corey Clement coming out of the backfield, despite his struggles against Alabama in the opener. UPDATE: CLEMENT WILL NOT PLAY TODAY. Wisconsin has a pair of non-conference games on deck as well, they should cruise in each of those contests, beginning with this one.
