Analysis: The LSU Tigers come in at 4-1 on the year, with their lone loss being by 5 points at home to Mississippi State two weeks ago. They did get back on track last week with a 63-7 destruction of New Mexico State. LSU is 4-1 ATS this year, but they are also 4-10-1 in their last 15 games following a SU Win. Anthony Jennings has not been all that good under center for LSU, as he comes in hitting just 50.6% of his passes for 734 yards with 5 TDs and 3 INTs on the year. 534 of those yards have gone to Travin Dural, who is averaging 25.4 yards per catch and has 5 TDs to boot. Overall the Tigers are 40th in total offense (462.8 ypg), 31st in rushing (226.2 ypg) and 20th in scoring (41.4 ypg). The defense for LSU has been very good, as they come in allowing just 292.2 ypg (12th), 130.6 ypg passing (5th) and 13 ppg (6th).
The Auburn Tigers have followed up their amazing 2013 season with a solid 4-0 start to this year, that includes a big 20-14 win at Kansas State a few weeks ago. Auburn is just 2-2 ATS this year, but hey are 8-2 ATS in the last 10 games at home off BB wins, plus 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 home games in this series. Nick Marshall did miss a game this year, but has still thrown for 548 yards and 6 TDs, while also rushing for 273 yards and 2 more TDs this year. Cameron Artis-Payne leads the team in rushing with 468 yards while also having 5 TDs. Auburn comes in 35 th in total offense (480 ypg), 18 th in rushing (260.5 ypg) and 15 th in scoring (42.2 ppg), while on the defensive side of the ball they come in ranked 20 th in yards allowed (313.2 ypg) and 15 th in points allowed (16.2 ppg).
Pick: Going with the Tigers here... The Auburn Tigers that is. This is not a place where you want your freshman QB to make his true road start and it is not the team you want it to happen against. The Auburn Tigers are a very tough team at home, both offensively and defensively and I just don't see LSU with a freshman QB being able to put up enough points here to keep this one close.
