College Football Saturday Duke vs Virginia Tech Start Time, Odds

One of college football’s biggest early surprises will meet one of its biggest disappointments this afternoon as ACC rivals Duke and Virginia Tech square off at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Virginia (12:30pm ET start time, ESPN3). College Football Saturday Odds are favoring Virginia Tech at -10 against the spread while the game total is set at 54.5 points. The Blue Devils are drawing +305 moneyline odds ($100 to win $305) to earn their first win over the Hokies since October of 1981.

Duke has not exactly played a difficult schedule to this point, but for a program that has tallied just 19 wins since the 2004 season, it does not really matter. No one is complaining about the Blue Devils 5-1 start, expect maybe its opposition, which includes ACC rivals Wake Forest and Virginia.

The Cavaliers most recently experienced the more menacing version of the Blue Devils as they fell 42-17 at Wallace Wade Stadium last weekend. Duke would love nothing more than to show Virginia Tech the same sort of fire today.

The Hokies have won eight straight over the Blue Devils; however, Duke, which also owns a 5-1 against the spread mark this season, has been more competitive since head coach David Cutcliffe took over in 2008. The Devils have covered the number in this rivalry series three out of the last four years, remaining in each contest with the exception of a 44-7 thrashing they endured in Blacksburg two years ago.

The 2012 Hokies hardly look capable of producing such an effort, though, as they have dropped two in a row and three of their last four. Nonetheless, Virginia Tech has yet to lose at home this season, beating Georgia Tech, Austin Peay, and Bowling Green at Lane Stadium.

Despite their perfect home record, the Hokies have not looked this vulnerable in many years. Conversely, the Blue Devils have not appeared this capable since Steve Spurrier roamed the sidelines in Durham.

Duke vs Virginia Tech College Football Odds:

Duke Blue Devils +10 (-110), Over 54.5 (-110), +305 (Moneyline)

Virginia Tech Hokies -10 (-110), Under 54.5 (-110), -370 (Moneyline)
