No. 12 Florida State will look to pad its record today as it takes on Atlantic Division rival Boston College at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee. This evening’s meeting between the Seminoles and Eagles has a scheduled start time of 5:30pm ET; the game will be broadcast live on ESPN2. College Football Odds have Florida State listed as a -28 against the spread home favorite and the game total set at 54 points.
Florida State’s play through the first five weeks of the season suggested it could roll into its finale versus Florida with an undefeated record. It was not to be, though, as the Seminoles were tripped up last weekend at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina.
FSU’s old nemesis, NC State, slapped a 17-16 loss on its conference rival, putting a series dent in its BCS National Championship hopes in the process.
The ‘Noles, however, are not down for the count, and their road to recovery and possible postseason glory begins anew with Boston College. The 1-4 Eagles appear to be less of a threat than usual, but they have avoided a major blowout to this point in the season.
Boston College lost to Miami, Northwestern, and Clemson by a combined 32 points and it got clipped 34-31 by Army last weekend. Despite keeping its games relatively close, BC has been an against the spread nightmare thus far, posting a 1-4 record opposite the number.
In spite of the Eagles trouble covering the spread, 28 points is a lot to lay here. Boston College has lost its last two meetings with the Seminoles but it has covered the spread in three of its last four against FSU.
