Clemson is 9-0 on the season and they have been pushed in several games, but that strength of schedule is helping them as the Tigers remain ranked second in the college football playoff standings. The Tigers won 54-0 last week over Syracuse and this game here against Pitt might be the toughest one left on the schedule. Pitt isn’t the best team offensively, but they will bring a tough-nosed defense that forces teams to force the football on the perimeter to its receivers.
Pat Narduzzi defenses love to stuff the box and play man covered on the outside, which should benefit Clemson here. Deshaun Watson is a bit banged up, but he has an advantage getting the football out to Mike Williams, Artavis Scott and the Tiger receivers. Ray-Ray McCloud also gives the Tigers an edge in special teams, another area where Clemson should have an advantage.
Pitt is coming off two straight defeats where they gave up a ton of points to Virginia Tech (39) and Miami (51). Clemson is better offensively than both of those teams and while that doesn’t guarantee anything in this one, the Tigers will be able to move the football consistently.
