College Football Betting Odds Baylor Bears at SMU Mustangs Start Time, Free Pick

The No. 4 Baylor Bears are on the road to open the 2015 college football season against the SMU Mustangs. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the betting odds for the game have Baylor listed as a five-score favorite to pick up the win.

Baylor believes this year can be the one where it plays for a national championship. The Bears have one of the better offenses in the country coming into the season, but they break out a new quarterback in Seth Russell. Many think he can be a Heisman trophy contender because of the numbers Baylor is presumably going to put up this season.

The Bears have some players suspended for this game tonight, namely Shawn Oakman on the defensive line. Baylor should contend for a title this year if the defense can play better, because they are absolutely loaded offensively.

Russell will be getting the football to receivers K.D. Cannon and Corey Colman, plus Shock Linwood out of the backfield. Art Briles' team scored better than 48 points per game last year, best in the country. There's no reason to think they won't be able to do that again this season.
SMU probably isn't going to be good this year. They were out-scored by 363 points last season, surrendering over 41 points per game. The Mustangs averaged only 11 per game themselves and it won't be easy tonight against a high-scoring team. SMU is going to be playing from behind the entire contest .

There's really nothing SMU can do in this one. This has blowout written all over it.

Vegas betting expert Steve Fezzik doesn’t expect the bad situation in Oakland to get much better this season. This AFC West team may have some improvements in terms of personnel, but Jack Del Rio is the latest in a carousel of ever-changing mediocre coaches, and Fezzik doesn’t expect he is the guy to turn this team around. He also thinks people are overstating Derek Carr’s abilities at quarterback, as he may do well in the fourth quarter, but his numbers are padded with garbage time performance.
