College Football Oregon State Beavers at Stanford Cardinal Start Time, Odds

Stanford Football: A Timeline of a Football Powerhouse

The Stanford Cardinal welcome in the Oregon State Beavers in college football action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on ESPN2. Currently the odds for the game have the Cardinal favored by nearly a couple of touchdowns.

Stanford has fallen on some hard times, sitting at just 4-3 on the season. but their schedule hasn't exactly been easy. With losses in close games to both USC and Notre Dame, the Cardinal still looked to have a big season before falling on the road last week to Arizona State, effectively knocking them out of the Pac-12 title chances with their second loss. Mathematically they are still alive, but the Cardinal won't be able to lose another conference contest and still have very tough games at Oregon, at UCLA and a home battle with Utah.

In this one, the Cardinal have to play better offensively. They average just 24 points per game, which ranked 99th in the country. QB Kevin Hogan and the Cardinal couldn't do anything last week against Arizona State but have to bounce back in this one, which is homecoming for Stanford. That bodes well for the Cardinal, as the home team has won five of the last seven in this matchup.

Oregon State will need a monster game from Sean Mannion. He's only tossed seven touchdowns this season, which isn't cutting it for the Beavers. This is their third road game out of four on the road and Stanford might have the best defense of those four teams. In their last game, Oregon State fell 29-24 in double overtime to Utah on a Thursday night at home where the Beavs had 390 yards of total offense and held the football for 34 minutes but couldn't get the job done. Turnovers and penalties have hurt them and either against Stanford won't make it easy.

Plus the Cardinal defense has allowed opponents to score only 12.3 points per game this year. Not good news for the Beavers.
