The 15th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels hit the road later today in college football action when they play the Vanderbilt Commodores at LP Field in Nashville. The game is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have the Rebels favored on the road by more than two touchdowns.
Ole Miss won handily in their opening game of the year, beating Boise State down in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Bo Wallace tossed four TDs but did also throw three interceptions.
The Rebels scored early any often in that one, trailing in time of possession by nearly 12 full minutes. The defense was decent enough to get them the win, also picking off four passes from Grant Hendrick.
Vanderbilt was blown out on their own field by Temple. They were laying close to double digits on the point spread but couldn't do anything right and surrendered almost 40 to the Owls.
This will be the second straight neutral site game for the Rebels, but Hugh Freeze and the boys should have no problem with that.
The Commodores actually won five of the last seven meetings overall in this one and Vandy is looking to circle the wagons, even on a neutral site, and get the crowd into it. It's not going to be easy.
If Wallace can play consistent, the Rebels will role. They have the better overall defense and can move the football effectively. Boise State is a lot better than Vandy. Wallace threw three picks and Ole Miss still won last week. Expect the Rebels to jump out to an early lead and run away in this one.
