The Cincinnati Bearcats welcome in the Temple Owls tonight in college football action. The game is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have Bearcats favored by three touchdowns.
This might not be the most impactful game of the weekend, but it could be very important for the Cincinnati Bearcats. They've gotten out to a 3-2 record on the season and already are 0-1 in the AAC. Cincinnati lost a horrible game last week against South Florida, one of the worst teams out there. Now they'll welcome in another bad team in Temple. Could they possible lose two weeks in a row to a very sub par team?
The Owls are 0-5 this year but South Florida was 0-4 going into last week's contest with the Bearcats.
Tommy Tuberville left Texas Tech to head north to Cincinnati. Not to say he is a bad coach, but it's evident he doesn't have this team where he wants them to be. But all indications are the Bearcats are headed in the right direction and could have a good season. Had they not lost to South Florida last week and if they won here, the Bearcats probably could have finished the season with eight wins or so. Now they'll have to pull an upset somewhere along the way to finish with eight.
Temple scored a touchdown late in the contest last week against Louisville to avoid being shut out at home. The Owls give up better than 27 points per game and score less than 16. Not good.
It would be tough to back either team against the number in this one. Cincinnati doesn't seem like the type of team to be laying three touchdowns or so against anybody right now. And with Temple being a terrible team that can't score, it's hard to imagine scooping up points with them.
Neither team is good in turnover differential with Temple sitting at -6 this season and Cincinnati at -3.
The Bearcats will probably play at a high level in this one, especially after a loss to South Florida last week. Cincinnati is pretty balanced offensively and they'll move the football in this one for sure. Temple? Not so much.
