Florida State had its share of distractions this week with quarterback Jameis Winston's alleged sexual assault coming to light, but the odds makers do not anticipate Jimbo Fisher's squad having any trouble against Syracuse. The latest College Football Odds from 5Dimes have the Seminoles listed as a -37.5 against the spread favorite and a prohibitive -42000 money line selection ($42000 wins $100). The total in today's meeting between the Seminoles and Orange, which has a 3:30pm ET kickoff (ABC), is set at 57.5 points.

Florida State may have a potential issue off the field, but on the field it has been smooth sailing for the Seminoles right from the jump.

FSU enters today's game with a 9-0 record and, at No. 2 in the BCS standings, it controls its own post-season destiny. Should the Seminoles win out, a prospect that seems like a foregone conclusion at this juncture, they will, in all probability, play for the BCS National Championship.

Florida's State close to the regular season features home games against Syracuse and Idaho and a road finale against in-state rival Florida. And, of course, the Seminoles will face the winner of the ACC Coastal Division in the ACC Championship Game.

The Orange are the first of that group to get squeezed as they have done nothing this season to indicate an upset of FSU is a possibility. That is not to say Syracuse is having an awful inaugural ACC season, but rather it is no match for the Seminoles.

The Orange have actually been rather impressive of late while also demonstrating an ability to bounce back from ugly losses. Syracuse, which sports a 5-4 record, has won three of its last four games, taking out NC State, Wake Forest, and Maryland all by double digits. The win over the Wolfpack came on the heels of a 49-14 home loss to Clemson and the victories against the Demon Deacons and Terrapins were preceded by a 56-0 setback at Georgia Tech.

What is clear about Syracuse at this point in the season is its ability to compete with and beat middling teams as well as its inability to keep pace with teams like Clemson. Obviously Florida State, distractions or no, is in that class, having procured a 51-14 win opposite the Tigers almost a month ago.

Notable Trends: Florida State is 6-0 straight up and 5-1 against the spread in its last six games as a home favorite with a total of 54.5 or more points.
