No. 2 Florida State, which is coming off back to back 59-3 wins, has a lot on its plate right now and, unfortunately for the team, it has little to do with football. The Seminoles will get something of a diversion today, though, when they meet Idaho at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee. The two teams are scheduled to take the field at 3:30pm ET; their meeting will be broadcast live on ESPNU. Updated College Football Odds have FSU listed as a -57.5 against the spread favorite and the Over/Under set at 69 points.
Idaho may be next up for No. 2 Florida State, but it would appear the Seminoles have far bigger issues to worry about than the Vandals. If Idaho were the only concern, Jimbo Fisher's troops could sleep easy from here to eternity.
The Vandals have one win – a 26-24 victory against Temple – and eight double digit losses to their credit. And while home has been no safe haven for Idaho, but the road has treated it with ruthless hostility.
The Vandals are 0-5 away from the Kibbie Dome and their margin of loss in road games is an eye popping 35.4 points per contest. That average was produced against North Texas, Wyoming, Washington State, Arkansas State, and Ole Miss. That list features some nice teams, but none in the class of Florida State.
To put it simply, the Seminoles, even with all the off the field issues swirling around quarterback Jameis Winston, can name their score this afternoon. Should Fisher decide to bury the Vandals under a pile of 60 or 70 points his team could pull it off.
The danger, though, in this kind of contest is trying to guess when the superior team will call off the dogs. With a 57.5 point spread that can be a difficult, unsafe, and occasionally unprofitable practice.
College Football Odds Idaho vs Florida State:
Idaho Vandals +57.5 (-110), Over 69 (-110)
Florida State Seminoles -57.5 (-110), Under 69 (-110)
