The miserable season for Notre Dame can finally end when the clock runs out on this one. The Fighting Irish are just 4-7 on the season and have been inconsistent enough that the season is in shambles. Brian Kelly has taken some heat this season for their struggles and the academic fraud brought on recently only makes this situation even worse.
USC?is red hot with wins in seven straight overall. The Trojans score a ton of points and freshman quarterback Sam Darnold has looked absolutely solid with the ball in his hands. The Trojans are ranked 12th in the country despite having three losses, but note each of those losses came early in the season as the Trojans started 1-3 on the campaign. Clay Helton’s team has got it turned around and figured out in the seven-game winning streak.
USC’s defense should garner some of the credit for that. In the winning streak USC hasn’t given up more than 24 points in any game, they’ve been strong on that side of the football and that should continue here in this one.
ND?can put up points, they average almost 31 per game and they pile up more than 400 yards of offense per game. But they just can’t seem to put it together enough to be a consistent team against a tough schedule. DeShone Kizer might be the top overall pick in the NFL?Draft, but he’s completing less than 60 percent of his passes. He’s also second on the team in running with better than 500 yards on the ground.
The Trojans can still make the Pac 12 title game if Utah beats Colorado, and even though this game doesn’t mean anything for that race, expect the Trojans to come hungry and looking to drill ND.
