College Football Boise State Broncos at Connecticut Huskies Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Boise State Football: 2014 National Signing Day Wish List

The Boise State Broncos take on the Connecticut Huskies in college football action Saturday. The game is scheduled for a noon start time and it will be televised live on ABC or ESPN2, depending on the regional coverage. Currently the odds for the game have the Boise State favored to roll over the Huskies in this one.

Boise State has been a very consistent football program the past decade, but they replace former head coach Chris Peterson and are now looking for a new identity. The Broncos turned it over way too much in the opening week of the season against Ole Miss, losing by three touchdowns. While they dominated the time of possession, Boise State couldn't get out of its own way and would up with a final score that looked pretty bad.

Then the Broncos responded well in their second game of the season, beating up on Colorado State for three quarters. Despite giving up two fourth quarter touchdowns, Boise cruised to a two-score win as they forced three Ram turnovers and got a huge game on the ground from Jay Ajayi with 219 yards on 33 carries.

Boise was absolutely dominant in their win last week, piling up the fifth-most yards in school history at 676.

This will be the first meeting between these schools and Connecticut should be in trouble. The Huskies trailed at home last week to Stony Brook 10-3, but Connecticut went on to pick up a 19-16 win.

Connecticut quarterback Casey Cochran played in the opening game of the season but is now walking away from football because of concussion issues. Chandler Whitmer now takes over for the Huskies at the signal-caller position.

If the Huskies aren't able to run the football, they won't be able to stay in this game. Boise's defense will be good enough to win this game even if the Bronco offense can't move the football. Connecticut won't be able to sneak up on the Broncos because they just aren't good enough at running the ball — they've ran it 68 times all season and only amassed 152 yards all season, an average of just 2.2 yards per carry. That's not going to cut it in this one.
