A battle of Top 10 teams in college football take to the field Saturday night when the seventh-ranked Kansas State Wildcats take on the sixth-ranked TCU Horned Frogs. Currently the College Football Odds for the game have the Frogs favored by almost a touchdown to get the win.
This could be the best game of the day if not for a couple of either huge battles on the gridiron. Kansas State and TCU each come in with identical 7-1 records on the season, but only TCU has a conference loss with the 61-58 defeat to Baylor a couple weeks back in a game they led by three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The Frogs have been able to bounce back, though, piling up wins over Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and West Virginia. TCU hung 82 points on Texas Tech a couple weeks back in a massive game for Trevone Boykin, who could potentially play himself into a Heisman spot in New York.
TCU now averages 48 points per game this year which ranks second in the country to — Baylor's 50.4 points per game.
Kansas State has yet another dual-threat quarterback under Bill Snyder in Jake Waters, who has combined to throw better than 1,800 yards and run for over 400. Waters has 18 touchdowns this season and Kansas State averages better than 38 points per game. Had they not imploded against Auburn earlier in the season they'd probably be ranked No. 1 in the country right now.
So the stage is set between a couple of good offensive and defensive teams. Gary Patterson is actually a Kansas State graduate but has never beaten the Wildcats, going 0-2 against them. Last year Kansas State won 33-31 in a great game. This year should be no different as one of these teams will more than likely be eliminated from playoff contention.
TCU sits at +15 in the turnover department for the season while Kansas State is a respectable +5 themselves. The Frogs didn't cover last week for the first time this season but they are laying a big number in this one. This game feels like it could be a lot closer than a touchdown and with two great football teams, expect it. TCU still has to be a bit bummed they didn't seal the deal against Baylor a couple of weeks ago, but now they have a chance to crawl into the four spots for the college football playoff with a win over Kansas State.
TCU is just going to be too much at home.
