College Football Betting Odds Iowa Hawkeyes vs Minnesota Golden Gophers Free Pick

Big 10 college football and the Iowa Hawkeyes will travel to TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The game has a start time of 12:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN 2. Current Vegas odds has the game listed as a Pick, while the total is set at 44.

Analysis:  The Iowa Hawkeyes come into this game off a 48-7 destruction of Northwestern at home last week. The win now has the Hawkeyes at 6-2 on the year, while in the Big 10 they are 3-1 and a half a game behind Nebraska in the west Division. The Hawkeyes are 10-4-1 ATS the last 15 in this series and 8-1 ATS in their last 9 road games, but are also 1-7 ATS after scoring 35 or more vs a conference opponent. Iowa is a rather average offensive team that ranks 70th in total yards, 57th in passing, 72nd in rushing and 67th in scoring (29.6 ppg). Defense is where this team has really hung their hat this year as they come in ranked 18th in yards allowed, 16th vs the pass, 38th vs the run and 18th in points allowed (20 ppg).

The Minnesota Golden Gophers have quietly had a nice season, going 6-2 overall, including a perfect 5-0 at home and they are 3-1 in the Big Ten, which has them in a tie for second in the West Division. The Golden Gophers are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 conference games, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a bye week and 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games in November. This is not a great offensive team as they come in ranked 108th in total yards, 122nd in passing, 32nd in rushing and 76th in scoring (28.1 ppg). On the defensive side of the ball they have been very solid, ranking 36th in total yards allowed, 40th vs the pass, 48th vs the run and 38th in points allowed, giving up 22.2 ppg.

Pick: I will go with the Hawkeyes in this one. Iowa is a good road team and they have dominated this series of late. Iowa has a bit better defense and they are slightly better on offense as well. Minnesota barely beat Purdue and Northwestern at home, while Iowa Beat Purdue by 14 on the road and crushed Northwestern by 41 at home last week. Iowa is playing better right now and I look for them to win this one by at least a TD.
