The train wreck that is Arkansas will attempt to get back on track this weekend as it faces an old Southwest Conference rival and new SEC West foe Texas A&M at Kyle Field in College Station (12:00pm ET start time, SEC Network). Arkansas vs Texas A&M Odds do not like the Razorbacks chances, though; the Aggies are presently a -13.5 against the spread home favorite. The game total in Saturday’s divisional showdown is set at 64.5 points.
Arkansas opened the season as a top 10 team but its lofty status lasted until a stunning week two overtime loss to Louisiana-Monroe. The wheels to the Razorback wagon have come off completely since the team’s loss to the Warhawks as Alabama and Rutgers came into Fayetteville and outscored Arkansas 87-26.
Now 1-3, Arkansas must find a way to regroup against an A&M team that has rebounded from a season opening loss to Florida with back-to-back wins.
The Aggies destroyed SMU 48-3 on September 15th and they pasted FCS school South Dakota State 70-14 last weekend. The offensive explosion is hardly a surprise given Head Coach Kevin Sumlin’s track record at Houston, but what has been unexpected is the near flawless play of freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel.
Manziel has thrown for 641 yards (67.4 completion percentage) and seven touchdowns (zero interceptions) and he has also rushed for 262 yards and five touchdowns on 38 carries.
Should Arkansas’ defense continue to play at its current level (101st in yards per game allowed, 110th in points per game allowed), Manziel should have another big day on Saturday.
