College Basketball Odds
North Carolina -14
Total: 164.5 points
North Carolina looks like a potential Final Four team again this season. The Tar Heels are coming off one of the toughest national championship losses of all time, but this year Roy Williams has his team ranked ninth in the country and 6-1 in conference action.
Virginia Tech is a fringe tournament team if the season ended today, but probably a team that is going to make it into the tournament provided they don’t completely fall apart. Playing in the ACC could do that, though, and it looks like a tough game here for the Hokies.
UNC is very tough to beat in Chapel Hill and the overall talent level is probably going to be too much for Virginia Tech. Carolina is one again one of the better rebounding teams in the country and to date this season they lead the country at 45.9 boards per game. They score a ton of points (89.4, fourth) and really share the basketball.
Inside, the Tar Heels are going to be tough to match up against. Kennedy Meeks, Isaiah Hicks and Justin Jackson have combined to average 44 points and 20 rebounds per game. That type of output is going to be very tough for the Hokies to stop.
Virginia Tech has a number of offensive options and they can score some points, all five starters average double figures. It’s going to take a very strong shooting performance just for them to hang around.
