The Iowa Hawkeyes are hosting the Purdue Boilermakers tonight in college basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. The college basketball odds for the game have the Boilermakers favored to pick up the win.
College Basketball Odds
Purdue -6
Total: 156.5 points
Purdue’s only two losses outside of conference play have come against Villanova and Louisville. Each of those were competitive games, which has certainly helped the Boilermakers prepare for the Big Ten season. A nine-point loss to Minnesota at home recently saw Purdue put up 82 points in an overtime game, but the Gophers were just too good in that extra session.
Since, the Boilermakers have beaten both Ohio State and Wisconsin. They have the best big man in the country in Caleb Swanigan, a double-double machine each time he takes the floor. Swanigan is averaging better than 18 points and nearly 13 rebounds per game.
Iowa has alternated wins and losses the past few weeks, most recently struggling with Rutgers at home. Peter Jok leads the conference in scoring at 22.6 points per game, which ranks ninth-best in the country. The Boilermakers are going to have to force someone other than Jok to beat them.
The Hawkeyes can rebound, but they are going to have to shoot well in this one to win. Getting the game going with an up and down feel could help them as well and they always play strong at home under Fran McCaffery.
