The Wisconsin Badgers are hosting the Ohio State Buckeyes in Big Ten college basketball action on Thursday night. Wisconsin is once again looking like the best team in the Big Ten. They are coming off a loss on the road at Purdue where the Badgers did not play well, shooting just 39 percent and making just two of 14 triples in the game. The Boilermakers, on the other hand, made seven of 15 triple attempts, which clearly had an impact in an 11-point eventual spread.
The Badgers also got beat up on the glass, which is one of the strengths of Ohio State, which ranks tied for 45th in the country in rebounds per game. The Buckeyes have lost all three games in conference action, but those three defeats have come by a combined 16 points and two of them were on the road.
Thad Matta’s team will play tough, there’s no doubt. Wisconsin will play tough as well, so this feels like one of those Big Ten battles where it will be a physical contest and free throws will be important.
Ohio State has a handful of guys that can score, five of them average double figures. Wisconsin might have the two best players with Nigel Hayes and Ethan Happ, but with the Buckeyes having multiple options they feel comfortable with on the offensive end, they can hang around in this one.
