The Pittsburgh Panthers are taking on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in college basketball action on Tuesday night. Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh are playing in the opening round of the ACC Tournament here; the 11-14 game can often be an entertaining one and hopefully this one can be one worth watching.
Pittsburgh could be fighting for a potential spot in a post season tournament, but certainly not the NCAA unless the Panthers find a way to win the ACC crown. Georgia Tech arguably has a chance at making that NCAA Tournament, but they’re going to have to piece together some victories here. They recently beat Pitt at home but followed it up with a blowout loss at Syracuse to end the regular season.
The Yellow Jackets don’t score a ton at 67.3 points per game, that ranks 301st in the country. The defense isn’t bad, giving up 67 per game, but the margin for error there can be dangerous in situations like this.
It’s interesting that Pitt is favored, especially given Georgia Tech’s need to win this game. Josh Pastner has done a fine job this season as coach for them and he’s going to need to really bring a strong effort here in this one.
