The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are hosting the Duke Blue Devils tonight in ACC college basketball action. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. The college basketball odds for the game have the Fighting Irish favored to pick up the win.

Notre Dame has a special week ahead, playing both Duke and North Carolina in the next handful of days. The first road block is taking on the Blue Devils, a team that is still searching for its identity and trying to piece its season back together.

At one point Duke was 12-1, but the past month has been very different. The Blue Devils have had distractions, inconsistent play and they’ve taken on some tough teams which haven’t made it easy. Duke is just 4-4 the last eight games and they have looked bad at times during that stretch.

Notre Dame had lost three of its last four games overall, including a pair of defeats the last two games. Mike Brey’s club has played a tough schedule to this point in the season and does own a strong resume. They’re tough to beat at home, winning 12 of 13 there this season. Only Virginia has been able to pick up a road win in South Bend this year and they did it by way of a 17-point victory last week. The Cavaliers didn’t even shoot well (46.3 percent) in that game, but took advantage of a poor performance from the Fighting Irish in the win.

Notre Dame is favored here because they’re tough to beat at home and Duke doesn’t appear to know what kind of effort it will get on the floor every night. But with Duke’s talent and the ability to go inside-out with good shooters like Luke Kennard, they’re going to be very tough to beat.
