The Kansas Jayhawks take on the Georgetown Hoyas in college basketball action tonight. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1. Currently the odds for the game have the Hoyas favored to pull off the win in this one tonight.
Kansas comes in ranked 10th in the country, but Bill Self's team has not played great. Georgetown has won all four games at home this season, shooting a blistering 50.1 percent from the floor.
Georgetown is rich in history and obviously is a great program. The Hoyas have won three straight non-conference home games at the Horizon Center against Top 25 teams, but the last one came way back on Jan. 30, 2010 over Duke, who was ranked eighth.
Kansas was destroyed on national TV by Kentucky a couple weeks back and now are playing their first road game of the season. The Jayhawks rebound the basketball well and will have to do that in order to knock off Georgetown tonight. These types of games are always close as a Top 10 team goes on the road and is an actual underdog to a team that's probably not as good.
But Georgetown isn't going to look at this game as not being as good as Kansas. They'll have to match up with Perry Ellis down on the blocks and Josh Smith will be tabbed with that responsibility. Georgetown dropped a pair of close games in Atlantis to Wisconsin and Butler, but rebounded well in beating Towson in their most recent game.
D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera leads the Hoyas in scoring per game at better than 14 and his experience will be key in this one. Kansas doesn't have a true experienced point guard and that could be an advantage for Georgetown.
The Hoyas are favored for a reason. As tempting as is it to take Kansas and the points in this one, look for a Georgetown win as the Hoyas defend, rebound and knock down free throws.
