Cincinnati Bengals 2012 NFL Predictions and Super Bowl Odds

The Bengals reached the playoffs for the third time under Head Coach Marvin Lewis last season, sliding into a Wild Card spot with a 9-7 record. Despite the solid finish, the Bengals are not getting much off-season love from the odds makers. Sportsbook.ag, according to its Cincinnati Bengals 2012 NFL Predictions, envisions Lewis’ crew winning fewer games this season (presently favored, at -140 odds, to win Under 8 games) and it is a third pick to win the AFC North at +400 odds ($100 to win $400). The latest Super Bowl Odds at the offshore book have Cincinnati listed as a +5000 moneyline play ($100 to win $5000) to win the Lombardi Trophy.

Cincinnati got a better than expected rookie campaign from quarterback Andy Dalton as the TCU graduate threw for 3,398 yards and 20 touchdowns. However, Dalton’s exploits, along with those of fellow rookie A.J. Green, only produced mediocre offensive results for the Bengals. Cincinnati ranked 20th and 18th in yards and points per game, respectively.

The Bengals defense established itself as one of the better units in the league, though, limiting its opposition to an average of 316.3 yards and 20.2 points per game.

Notwithstanding those numbers and the anticipated progression of players like Dalton, Cantor Gaming finds itself in agreement with its offshore counterpart in regard to Cincinnati’s potential this season. The Vegas based odds maker has the Bengals favored in just six of the 15 Cincinnati games for which it has issued point spreads.
