The Buffalo Bulls, amazingly, won the MAC Championship in 2008, upsetting a heavily favored Ball State squad 42-24 in the conference title game. Since that 8-6 season, the Bulls have fallen on hard times, going 5-7, 2-10, 3-9, and 4-8. There is reason for hope in upstate New York this year, though. Buffalo returns 16 starters and 54 lettermen from last year's squad, which should lead to improvement on both sides of the ball. Nonetheless, the Bulls latest 2013 College Football Predictions at 5Dimes are not overly optimistic. Buffalo is a fourth pick to win the MAC East at +600 odds ($100 wins $600) and it is also a middling pick to win the conference at +1400 odds. The Bulls are also favored to win fewer than 5.5 games at -135 odds ($135 wins $100).
While the product on the field should be much better at Buffalo, the results may not show it. The Bulls 2013 schedule is not an easy one as they face non-conference road games at Ohio State and Baylor and what could be challenging conference trips to Kent State and Toledo. Buffalo does have the good fortune of hosting division rivals Ohio and Bowling Green, but it will likely need to win one of those games or beat Connecticut in the non-con to crest its posted 5.5 games win total.
