British Open Odds Updated — Tiger Woods Still Favorite

The weekend is here at the British Open and several big named golfers are hanging around to compete for the Claret Jug. After 36 holes of action just nine players are under par, led by Miguel Angel Jimenez at 3-under. The Updated British Open Odds have Tiger Woods favored to win the tournament.

Woods entered the tournament as the oddsmakers' pick to win. It seems as if two rounds later that's still the consensus. Woods hasn't won a major championship since the 2008 U.S. Open but he's looking to turn things around this weekend. In his previous six major tournaments, however, he's played the opening two rounds at 11-under par. The weekends have not been as good to Woods — he's 30 shots worse (19-over par) in the final two days of the tournament during those last six majors. Obviously if that continues this weekend Woods will not be in a very good position.

Angel Jimenez isn't expected to close out the tournament, either. The odds on his ability to stay in first place and hoist the trophy are listed at 15/1 according to the Las Vegas Superbook (odds listed below). Also drawing 15/1 odds for the remainder of the tournament are Angel Cabrera and Phil Mickelson — two guys that have won major championships before.

Joining Woods at 2-under par after 36 holes are Henrik Stenson (9/1 odds), Lee Westwood (6/1 odds) and Dustin Johnson (12/1 odds), who was the leader of the tournament after one round of action. All are just one shot back of Jimenez entering the weekend. Westwood holds the title as arguably the best player in the world to have not won a major yet in his career. The Englishman has two second place finishes at The Open and The Masters, both in 2010.
