USC, which dropped out of the Top 25 following last week’s stunning home loss to Washington State, will look to get back on track this weekend when it hosts Boston College at the L.A. Coliseum. Kickoff in tomorrow’s ACC/Pac-12 showdown is set for 3:00pm ET; the game will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Network. The latest NCAA College Football Odds from 5Dimes have the hosting Trojans listed as a -13.5 against the spread favorite and the Over/Under set at 42 points. BC is a +415 money line selection ($100 wins $415) while USC is drawing -525 straight up odds ($525 wins $100).
Despite USC’s disastrous finish to its 2012 campaign, many felt the Trojans would be a major college football presence this season. Through two games those prognostications could not look more foolish.
The Trojans were unimpressive in their season opening 30-13 win over Hawaii and they were pathetic in losing last week’s meeting with Washington State. It should be pointed out the Cougars, under the direction of Mike Leach, are a rapidly improving squad; however, that is no excuse for what happened last weekend at the Coliseum.
USC managed all of 14 first downs and 193 total yards in the 10-7 loss as quarterbacks Cody Kessler and Max Wittek combined to complete 11-of-21 passes for 54 yards and two interceptions (5.5 passer rating).
Most pundits feel the Trojans will snap out of their funk this weekend, but Boston College has looked solid under new head coach Steve Addazio.
The Eagles have already matched last season’s win total (two), and last weekend they avenged a 14-28 loss to conference rival Wake Forest. Boston College topped the Demon Deacons 24-10 as it limited Jim Grobe’s troops to 246 total yards and a 1.4 yards per carry average.
The talent edge goes to USC in this contest, but anyone anxious to lay 13.5 points on these Trojans, at least right now, must know something the public and, quite possibly, Head Coach Lane Kiffin, does not.
College Football Odds Betting Trend(s): BC is 4-1 both straight up and against the spread in its last five games as a road dog with a total between 41.5 and 44 points (Under was 4-1 in those same five games). The Under is 8-2 in USC’s last 10 games as a home favorite in the month of September.
Boston College vs USC NCAA College Football Odds:
Boston College Eagles +13.5 (-110), Over 42 (-110), +415 (Moneyline)
USC Trojans -13.5 (-110), Under 42 (-110), -525 (Moneyline)
