Boston Bruins vs Montreal Canadiens Game 4 Second Round NHL Playoffs Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Is the Boston Bruins-Montreal Canadiens Rivalry as Compelling as It Used to Be?

The Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens meet up tonight in Game 4 of their NHL Second Round NHL Playoffs series. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on the NBC Sports Network. Currently the odds for the game have Boston favored on the road to even the series.

Montreal picked up a victory in the opening game of this series in double overtime, stealing away the home ice advantage over the Bruins. But the two teams alternated victories in the second and third games of this series and now Montreal, who has a 2-1 lead, can take a commanding 3-1 advantage with a win here over the Bruins tonight. Yet, the oddsmakers have Boston listed as the favorite to even the series and get their home ice advantage back on track.

Tonight's game will see a battle between teams that can score goals. Each team is averaging better than three goals in this series as the goal tending has been a little up and down on both sides in this series.

Yet, Carey Price has been solid enough for the Canadiens in this playoffs. He's gone 6-1 in the post season with a 2.47 ERA in the post season by saving better than 91 percent of the opponents' shots. Yet, he seems to be struggling when Montreal has the lead. The Canadiens blew advantages of 2-0 and 3-2 before winning the opener in double OT. Then they wasted a 3-1 lead by allowing four third-period goals in a 5-3 loss in Game 2 in Boston. That's been the only loss for Montreal this playoff season.

Tuukka Rask has allowed 10 goals for Montreal in the last three games overall. Boston, despite being down and out, still isn't looking to fold up the tent and pack it in, however. These Bruins have a lot of fight and will surely bring a solid game tonight.

The oddsmakers believe they're going to even this series. But if they are able to do that, they'll have to stop P.K. Subban from scoring points. Subban has 11 points in the last six playoff games and is the first Habs defenseman to have a six-game playoff point streak since Larry Robinson in 1985. Subban is playing very well right now and is a problem for Boston.

But we expect the Bruins to come at Price in waves tonight, looking to get an early lead and hang on. Montreal has been very good all post season and when they didn't play well, they lost a lead to the Bruins. Look for Boston to get out to an early lead tonight and pick up a road win to even the series.
