The Wisconsin Badgers host the Purdue Boilermakers in Big Ten College Basketball action tonight. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Currently the odds for the game have the Badgers favored to pick up the win.
Wisconsin has been the best team in the Big Ten all season, no doubt. The Badgers are ranked fourth in the country and many believe they have a chance to contend for a national championship. Bo Ryan has been to the Final Four on more than one occurrence, but this might be the best team he has ever put on the floor.
The Badgers are led by national player of the year contender Frank Kaminski in the middle. The big man piles up 16.6 points and 8.5 rebounds per game this season, stretching the defense out to the perimeter when necessary by having the ability to knock down shots. Sam Dekker is another lethal player for the Badgers, averaging nearly 13 points per game.
Purdue just picked up a nice home win over Michigan, trailing at halftime but finding a way to pick up the victory. The Boilers have four guys average double figures each night, led by Kendall Stephens with 11 points per game. Vince Edwards and A.J. Hammons both offer Purdue some nice size on the interior, which they will need in order to match up with the Badgers.
Wisconsin comes in on a roll as well, winners of 14 of their 15 games this season with the only loss coming at home to Duke. Purdue comes in looking to continue playing solid defense, which they weren't doing in late December. The Boilers gave up an average of 88 points to Vanderbilt, Notre Dame and Gardner Webb, all three losses, before opening Big Ten play with a couple of nice wins at home. Now they hit the road, where they have only played once this season, a loss to Vandy.
