The major events for horse racing this year are going to be a little different because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It's an adjustment everyone is going to have to adjust to and the first major change will be the Belmont Stakes kicking off the Triple Crown races. The 2020 Belmont Stakes Post Position Draw will take place on Wednesday at 12 p.m. It will be streamed live on the New York Racing Association's YouTube channel.
For the first time, the Belmont Stakes will be the opening leg of the Triple Crown. The Kentucky Derby was pushed back to September 5 while the Preakness Stakes will be run on October 3. The Belmont was also moved back from the opening Saturday in June.
Oh, don't forget that the Belmont will be run with no fans in attendance. It's supposed to be a shorter distance, as well.
Tiz The Law looks like it's going to be one of the contenders for the race. That list also includes Sole Volante, Tap It To Win, Dr. Post, Modernist, Farmington Road and Jungle Runner, to name a few.
The official post position draws will take place on Wednesday at noon. Then, the morning line odds will be released as well.
