No. 9 Baylor will look to get back on track today as it faces Big 12 rival TCU at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. This afternoon's clash between the Bears and Horned Frogs is scheduled to get underway at 3:30pm ET on ESPN2. The latest College Football Odds have Baylor listed as a -13 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 65 points.
Baylor's BCS National Championship hopes were crushed last weekend in Stillwater, Oklahoma, but the Bears still have a shot at the Big 12 title. However, in order to procure a conference championship they must shake off last weekend's performance against Oklahoma State and get past TCU this afternoon (and Texas next weekend).
Given how poorly the Horned Frogs have performed this season that seems like a foregone conclusion, but college football has a penchant for not adhering to the expected.
TCU is a perfect example of that as it has not lived up to expectations this season, but it would be unfair to label Gary Patterson's crew a bad football team. There is plenty of talent on the Horned Frogs roster and there have been occasional glimpses of that this season.
TCU lost on the road to Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Kansas State on the road but it played all three teams tough, losing by an average of 6.3 points per game. In fact, the only real ugly loss on the Horned Frogs resume was the 30-7 setback it absorbed on its home turf against Texas.
The Horned Frogs may be catching the Bears at the perfect time as well with the thoughts of last weekend's game still lingering in their heads.
Baylor's defense got lit up for 594 by the Cowboys and its vaunted offense under performed too, posting 453 total yards (660.8 yards per game average) while turning the ball over three times.
The possibility certainly exists that Baylor comes out upset and motivated and sticks it to TCU, but it seldom seems to work out that way when a previously undefeated team is coming off its first loss of the season.
TCU is also 4-1 both straight up and against the spread in its last five meetings with the Baylor, which should give it an air of confidence entering today's game.
Notable Trends: TCU is 6-1 against the spread in its last seven games as an underdog in the month of November.
Baylor vs TCU College Football Odds:
Baylor Bears -13 (-110), Over 65 (-110), -500 (Moneyline)
TCU Horned Frogs +13 (-110), Under 65 (-110), +400 (Moneyline)
