Ball State Cardinals at North Texas Mean Green, Free PIck

College football on Saturday and we see the Ball State Cardinals travel to Texas to take on the North Texas Mean Green. The start time is 4:00 pm (Eastern) and the game will be televised on FSN. Current Odds have Ball State listed as 3 point favorites, while the total sits at 62.

Analysis: The Ball State Cardinals hit the road for the first time this season and they take their 2-0 record with them. Ball State started out the year with a 51-28 win over Illinois State and then followed that up with a 40-14 win over Army last week. The Cardinals' offense is led by senior quarterback Keith Wenning, who now has 8 career 300 yards passing games, after throwing for 325 yards and two touchdowns last week in the win over the Black Knights. Keith has accounted for seven total touchdowns this season. Last season his favorite target was Willie Snead and this year isn't much different, as the junior wideout has reeled in 14 receptions for 228 yards and two touchdowns, so far this year. BSU allowed Army's wishbone rushing attack to accumulate 388 yards on the ground last week. The Cardinals allowed 439 yards in total, but made up for it by forcing three turnovers and holding the Knights to only 7 of 19 on third downs. This will be the first time the Cardinals play at Apogee Stadium and they did win their final four true road games of the 2012 campaign.

North Texas is returning home after a hard-fought 27-21 loss to Ohio University at Peden Stadium. The Mean Green overcame a 14-point halftime deficit before a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter secured the win for the Bobcats. Derek Thompson has become the Mean Green's leader. In his first game of the year he threw for a career- high 349 yards and two touchdowns on 23-of-27 passing with zero interceptions against Idaho, but last week vs the Bobcats he struggled some throwing for just 195 yards and two touchdowns on 19-of-29 efficiency, while also throwing 2 picks. NT is averaging only 3.5 yards per carry and 145.5 rushing yards per game, but it has found the end zone on the ground five times already. Defensively, the Mean Green look to be an improved team from a season ago. They held Idaho to just six points and limited a talented Ohio offense to only two offensive touchdowns. This will be the second meeting in history between the Cardinals and NT. The Mean Green defeated BSU, 20-10, in the 2009 season opener for both sides.

Pick: I like the Under in this one. Ball State can put points on the board, but North Texas is a good defensive squad and they will look to slow this game. I look for a game in the lower 50s here.
