Analysis: The Demon Deacons have not had a good year, but they have played better of late, winning 3 of their last 5 games and on Saturday that took Virginia to the wire on the road in a 1 point loss. Still they are 12-14 overall and just 4-9 in the ACC. Wake Forest has gone 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record and 11-4-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall. The Demon Deacons have been decent offensive squad, ranking 93rd in scoring (70.7 ppg), 235th in shooting (42.5%), 188th in 3 point shooting (34.0%) and 319th in FT shooting (64.1%). Defensively the Deacons have been poor, ranking 280th in points allowed (70.3 ppg), 250th in defensive FG% (44.2%) and 59th in 3 point defense (31.4%).
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish shook off a bad 30 point loss at Duke to win a 60-58 game at Clemson last Tuesday night. The win now has Notre Dame sitting at 22-4 for the year overall and in 2nd place in the ACC with an 10-3 mark. At home the Irish have been very good at 15-1 so far. Notre Dame has gone 10-25-1 ATS in their last 36 vs. the ACC and 6-19-2 ATS in their last 27 home games. The Irish have been a very good offensive squad this year, ranking 14th in scoring (79.2 ppg), 2nd in shooting (51.2%), 19th in 3 point shooting (40.0%) and 116th in FT shooting (70.5%). The defense for this team has been rather average, ranking 135th in points allowed (64.9 ppg), 142nd in defensive FG% (42.2%) and 225th in 3 point defense (34.8%).
Pick: The trends don't really support the Irish, but I will still go with them here. Wake forest will be home during the post season and they just played a very good game vs Virginia, in which they lost by just 1 points. I see a letdown from them here and that is not good when about to take on an Irish team that is 15-1 at home, outscoring their opponents by 21 ppg in the process. I expect the Irish to take this one by at least 15.
