Miami Hurricanes vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish ACC Tournament Odds, Free Pick

Tonight the Miami Hurricanes will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament, which will be played at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. The game has a start time of 9:30 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN and the ACC Network. Current Vegas betting odds have the Fighting Irish listed as 4.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 138.5.

Analysis:  The Miami Hurricanes come in having won 3 games in a row, but their last 2 wins have been vs a weak Virginia Tech squad. The Canes have had a nice year so far, as they are 21-11 overall and have gone 11-8 vs the ACC. getting Rodriguez back will help this team moving forward. The Canes have been a decent offensive team this year, as they come in ranked 149th in scoring (68.6 ppg), 171st in shooting (43.6%), 85th in 3 point shooting (36.4%) and 28th in FT shooting (73.8%). Defensively the Canes have been solid this year, ranking 82nd in points allowed (62.9 ppg), 147th in defensive FG% (42.4%) and 131st in 3 point defense (33.4%).

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish shook off their home loss to Syracuse beating Louisville on the road and Clemson at home to grab the third seed in the ACC Tournament. For the year the Irish went 26-5 overall and 14-4 in the ACC, while also going 9-3 in all games away from home. The Irish have been a very good offensive squad this year, ranking 14th in scoring (78.9 ppg), 2nd in shooting (51.0%), 23rd in 3 point shooting (39.0%) and 48th in FT shooting (72.0%). The defense for this team has been rather average, ranking 143rd in points allowed (65.3 ppg), 146th in defensive FG% (42.4%) and 157th in 3 point defense (33.8%).

Pick: The Offenses have been clicking for these teams of late and they did put up 145  in an earlier meeting this year and  I feel they could do that again. Miami's defense has looked good of late, but we note that 2 of their last 3 games were vs offensively challenged Virginia Tech and the Irish are not offensively challenged as they come in averaging 78.9 ppg overall, including 77.4 ppg in their last 5 games. The Irish have allowed 67.4 ppg in their last 5 games and a closer look shows that they played Boston College, Wake Forest, Clemson, Syracuse and Louisville in that stretch, and those are all teams that have been struggling to score. Miami put up just 59 points vs Va Tech last night, but still this team is averaging 70.6 ppg in their last 5 games. This should be an uptempo game that should see at least 145 points scored.
