Syracuse opened the season with a strong showing in 2017, going 4-3. While that may not be a great start for most programs, it looked like it was a nice one for the Orange. The problem for them was dropping each of their last five games overall. Tough way to end the season.
The good news, at least on the surface, is that they return 14 total starters, including eight on offense and six on defense. Three return on the offensive line, Eric Dungey returns at QB and the Orange could once again get it going early this season, but they are going to have to find a way to keep opponents from scoring a lot of points. Last year opponents posted better than 32 points per game.
