Alabama -24
Total: 40 points
Alabama is the clear-cut top team in the country and no matter what happens in this game, they should be playing in the college football playoffs. Nick Saban once again has an excellent team and they will once again benefit from playing a horrible offense team in Florida during the SEC Championship game.
Last year the Crimson Tide won this game 29-15 behind Derrick Henry pounding away with 44 carries and 189 yards. This year Alabama doesn’t have that big, bruising back but they are very balanced on offense, led by freshman Jalen Hurts (3,200-plus all purpose yards, 33 TDs).
Florida sports one of the better defenses in the country, they rank fourth in total defense and give up just over two touchdowns a game. That hasn’t been the problem for the Gators all season, the offense has. The Gators simply have no dynamic offensive threats and without that, it’s really tough to beat a strong Alabama team.
This will be the ninth time these teams meet up in the SEC Championship game, the most frequent matchup in the title game’s 25 years. Each team has won four times over the other.
