2014 New Mexico Lobos Football Schedule, Preview

Colorado State and New Mexico Athletic Directors Plotting Against MWC?

The New Mexico Lobos are looking for a rebound this year under head coach Bob Davie. The 2014 New Mexico Lobos Schedule is listed below in the tough Mountain West Conference.

When Davie left the ESPN booth and signed on to take over the Lobos program, many thought he could help build a winner. But with tough recruiting, lack of top of the line facilities and playing in a tough conference, it's been an uphill battle. Davie has spent three years already at the helm of the Lobos but is just 7-18 in that time.

The defense will clearly have to get better. Last year the Lobos gave up almost 43 points per game to opponents and more than 516 yards of total offense.

The Lobos, running that funky style offense with all kinds of moving parts, were able to score some points but only found a way to win three games last season.

The overall culture of losing at New Mexico as a football program is what Davie is hoping to turn around.

New Mexico is bringing six starters back on offense and defense and they have a whole bunch of junior college players coming in as well. If David can somehow find a way to mesh these guys together they should improve.

QB Cole Gautsche is a dual-threat guy, but the Lobo receivers coming back didn't have great numbers last season.

If New Mexico can find a way to score points and improve on defense, they should be better this season. There's a lot of junior college talent coming in and they are optimistic about this season.
