The 2014 Belmont Stakes Longshots could all have a potential to win the race on Saturday as only 11 horses will run in the prestigious event. One of the more popular longshots in the race is General A Rod.
General A Rod will begin the race from the 10th post positions and is a 20-1 odds on the morning line.
Joining California Chrome and Ride On Curlin, General A Rod is just the third horse to compete in all three Triple Crown races this season, having run in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. General A Rod placed 11th in the Derby and took fourth overall in the Preakness just a few weeks ago.
General A Rod finished 11th in the Kentucky Derby with Joel Rosario riding. It's obviously not being tabbed as the horse to beat in this race, but General A Rod is drawing some decent odds for such a small amount of horses running in the race. A total of 11 horses make the gate for the second race in the Triple Crown run.
General A Rod placed third in the Florida Derby, which was the only time he finished worst than second place in a race before the Derby and Preakness.
Rosie Napravnik became the first woman to ride all three legs of the Triple Crown last season. She'll do it again this year as the will ride atop General A Rod in Saturday's race.
