Despite mediocre results from the first two years of the Al Golden era, most pundits expect the 2013 version of the Miami Hurricanes to contend for the ACC title. The latest College Football Odds from 5Dimes have the Canes listed as a +225 favorite to win the Coastal Division ($100 wins $225) and they are a third pick to win the 2013 ACC Championship at +575 odds ($100 wins $575). A preview of Miami's schedule lends credibility to those numbers as does the returning talent (18 starters, 53 lettermen) and Golden's stellar performance in bringing life to the Temple football program during his time there.
Miami's schedule features one key non-conference clash as it meets Florida at Sun Life Stadium on September 7th, but its conference slate has four pivotal games which will, in all probability, determine where the team finishes in the ACC standings.
Home meetings with Georgia Tech (10/5) and Virginia Tech (11/9) and road games at North Carolina (10/17) and Florida State (11/2) are the biggest league matchups on the Canes 2013 docket. Miami posted a 2-2 record against those four squads last season and still managed to tie for first in the Coastal Division. A 3-1 mark in those four games this year will almost certainly result in a stand alone division title.
