It's nearly a year away, but oddsmakers are already looking ahead to the 2013 Masters on the PGA Tour. There still is plenty of golf left in the 2012 season, but the Masters is always a hot topic and discussion piece around sports fans and bettors alike. Currently Tiger Woods is the favorite for the 2013 Masters Odds.

The 2013 Masters will take place from April 11-14 at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. This year marks the 77th anniversary of the most recognizable golf tournament in the world. Last year, American Bubba Watson won the tournament by defeating South African Louis Oosthuizen on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff. They both had been 10-under par entering the playoff before Watson was able to win. Much like the 2013 Masters Odds, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods were favored in 2012. Each, however, struggled mightily during the tournament and tied for 40th place overall by shooting a four-day total of 5-over par. The People's Champion, Phil Mickelson, was also in contention in his final round in 2012 but had a triple bogey on his fourth hole of the day, which ultimately sealed his fate and ended his run at the Masters. That fourth and final day was also interesting for Bo Van Pelt, who shot the round of the tournament. He carded an 8-under par 64 that shot him up the leaderboard where he ultimately took 17th place.

Of the four major tournaments on the PGA Tour, the Masters has the smallest field of golfers. There is a distinct criteria needed to qualify for the Masters. Those criteria include past Master's champions, the last five U.S. Open champions, the last five British Open champions, the last five PGA champions, the last three winners of the Player's Championship, the top two finishers of the U.S. Amateur tournament, the winner of the Amateur Championship, the winner of the 2011 Asian Amateur, the winner of the U.S. Amateur Public Links, the Top 16 finishers and ties in last year's Masters, the Top 8 finishers and ties in last year's U.S. Open, the Top 4 finishers and ties of last year's British Open, the Top 4 finishers and ties in last year's PGA Championship, the Top 30 leaders on the money list, the winners of PGA Tour events that award a full-point allocation for the season-ending Tour Championship, between Masters tournaments, all players qualifying for the Tour Championship, the Top 50 on the final Official World Golf Rankings list and an option for International invitees.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy both top the 2013 Masters odds while other players, including Phil Mickelson, Luke Donald, Lee Westwood and Adam Scott also find themselves closer to the top of the odds list. It should come as no surprise that the more popular players are close to the top of the oddsmakers list. Last year's champion, Bubba Watson, currently sports 25-1 odds to win the 2013 Masters. If he was able to do so, he'd become the first player since Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002 to repeat as Masters champion.
